This spurred Emily on to write her first short film script ‘The Invitation'
starring Sally Phillips, which she produced on the High Definition format.
The film gained the sponsorship of Sony, who went on to use the film
as promotional material for their High Definition camera at the Cannes,
Venice and Edinburgh film festivals. ‘The Invitation' has been acquired
by Cathay Pacific, Air New Zealand and Virgin Airlines, Sky Movies and
has distribution in three territories with Canal Plus.
Emily has since worked on the Gangster Pictures co-production ‘Snap' as an actress
and producer. The 5-minute short film was the first film to be shot as a narrative
piece on both 35 mm and High Definition Digital. The film was screened at the
2002 Cannes Film Festival and is now is the used by the majority of industry
experts as an accurate example of high definition/35mm comparison.
Emily then went on to write, direct, produce ‘Nature or Nurture?' for the UpOverDownUnder
Film Festival and has since appeared on the Home Choice Channel.
She directed and produced ‘Life's' a Drag' a documentary on ‘Lady Constance Calcutta',
a London drag queen also for DKTV.
Her short film ‘Actresses; resistance is futile' which she wrote, directed and
produced was completed on digi-beta in 2002 along with the mini-documentary ‘Stranger
Than Fiction' about club legend Steve Strange for Ego PR.
Emily wrote, produced and acted in the comedy-drama feature film ‘Sisterhood'
which was shot in London and New Zealand and was completed in March 2008. The
film was theatrically distributed in the UK by Blue Dolphin, on DVD & Blu
Ray in the USA by Cinevolve and on DVD in New Zealand and Australia by Vendetta.
It won ‘Best First Film' and was nominated for ‘Best Comedy' and ‘Best Actress'
at the British Film Festival LA 2009 and won ‘Best Actress' and was nominated
for ‘Best Feature' at The Marbella International Film Festival 2009. The film
also made the Official Selection of the Feel Good Film Festival and the LA Femme
Film Festival in 2008
Emily is now in advanced development with two other feature film projects. Emily
has also been working as a freelance script writer and has been a ‘writer for
hire' to several producers including a commission by Empire Productions for the
feature length romantic comedy set in Greece and the UK, ‘Moussaka and Chips'.
Her film and media consultancy business has led her to contracts in new business
development for a corporate video company, project consultant for a film training
company, film tutor and she has previously acted as Acquisitions Consultant to
a US theatrical distribution company.
